Comedy Course in Edinburgh during the Fringe
"The ultimate Fringe experience"
Since 2002 the Absolute & Almost Beginners comedy course in Edinburgh has replicated those held in London, but won't take place in 2008 due to unavailability of the course leader.
In 2008 it was replaced by the ACME comedy writing course, for those with some experience of performing (as stand-up or in sketches) material they have written - it will NOT be suitable for newcomers.

Either the ACME comedy writing course during the Edinburgh Fringe in Edinburgh in August .... A brilliant opportunity to improve your comedy and joke-writing skills, including stand-up, sketches, sitcoms, improv etc. Led by experienced Comedy Store and BAFTA-winning comedians/writers, visiting producers, and special guests such as Barry Cryer explaining about writing for other comedians. It is strongly recommended that this course is not undertaken by anyone who hasn't performed material they have written/created, either as stand-up or in sketches. and in 2009 we may return to holding an intensive
Absolute & Almost Beginners comedy course .... the likely format is that it will run over five days (from around 9.15am to 5.15pm) during the Edinburgh Fringe, ending on the final Monday in August and starting on the previous Thursday. (This includes a weekend and the English bank holiday Monday to minimise the number of days people might need to take off work).
The content is the same as in London, so check the Absolute And Almost Beginners course page for general information. And as in London there is a non-compulsory showcase at the end of the course, and therefore participants will be able to say, becasue they will be Stand Up and Deliver "Absolute & Almost Beginners comedy course" graduates, that they have performed on a comedy stage at the Edinburgh Fringe.
A participant in 2005, Caroline Clifford, was a finalist in two prestigious new comedian competitions on the Fringe iust 12 months later. That surely says volumes about this course!
